Simon Ward is widely regarded as one of the UK’s finest game shots and game shooting coaches, dedicating much of his time during the season to on-the-peg tuition. An expert in gun-fitting, he draws on decades of experience in the field and has a keen eye for the smallest of details. Simon has worked with Schöffel Country as a field consultant since 2018, assisting with product development and field testing of technical shooting garments.

“Schöffel Country is the best brand out there to fit my needs in the field – both as a game Shot and as a professional shooting coach. In my opinion, they make the finest quality technical garments for game shooting, and I’ve enjoyed assisting with product testing and design suggestions in recent years.”

Simon took up shooting at the age of 12 and was working as a trainee shooting coach, under the late Jeff Lupton at Yorkshire Gun Room, by the age of 18. A talented young cricketer, Simon eventually chose to follow his passion for shooting full-time. While he is best known for his prowess in the game shooting field, he has an impressive pedigree in clay shooting too, having won both the British Open and English Open Side-By-Side Championships.

Renowned as a true gentleman in the field, Simon, now based in Hampshire, has for many years been associated with other prominent brands in the shooting sector, including cartridge company Gamebore and Italian gunmaker Perazzi.
