We’re delighted to announce that from 20 to 27 October 2025, 5% of every sale made on the Schöffel Country website will go directly to the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) – a leading charity dedicated to science-led conservation and the future of the British countryside.

In recent years, with the help of our customers, we have raised more than £55,000 for the GWCT, directly supporting a range of projects and initiatives. And there’s a very good reason – lots of them, actually – why the Trust continues to be our chosen beneficiary...

From soil health to hedgerows and watercourses to wild bird mixes, by supporting the GWCT you improve the future prospects of the British countryside.

Why we're giving back

At Schöffel Country, we believe in doing our bit to help protect the rural landscapes, species, and traditions that make Britain unique.

Our countryside faces increasing pressure from environmental challenges, land-use changes, and loss of biodiversity. And the GWCT is at the forefront of meeting these challenges with science, integrity, and passion.

From farmland to woodland, moorland to wetland, and waders to water voles, the GWCT’s work helps to safeguard the future of British wildlife and the way of life that surrounds it.

What the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust does

Founded almost a century ago, the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust is a leading UK charity dedicated to research-led conservation. Its mission is to promote wildlife and sustainable countryside management through rigorous science, practical solutions, and education.

Science-driven conservation

The GWCT is one of the UK’s most respected conservation research organisations. Its team of scientists carry out pioneering studies on species like the grey partridge, curlew, black grouse, wild Atlantic salmon, and brown hare, providing the evidence needed to reverse their decline.

GWCT research directly influences conservation strategies, environmental policy, and land management best practices across the UK.

Supporting farmers and land managers

The Trust works closely with farmers, gamekeepers and landowners to promote wildlife-friendly farming. Through advisory visits, workshops, and publications, it offers practical guidance on how to balance food production with biodiversity – helping the countryside to work better for both people and nature.

The GWCT’s educational work supplements its research and science; sharing knowledge is key.

Restoring habitats and species

From creating thriving field margins and beetle banks, to rewetting peatland and managing woodland, the GWCT helps landowners deliver real results on the ground. Its approach is always evidence-based and tested in real-world conditions.

The GWCT has also led or supported the recovery of several iconic species, including the lapwing, curlew, and black grouse.

Educating and inspiring future generations

Through a schools programme, university partnerships, and public outreach, the GWCT is helping to build a deeper understanding of how conservation and sustainable land management go hand in hand. It also operates demonstration sites like the Allerton Project, where scientific research is tested on a working farm – showcasing what’s possible when wildlife, farming, and research come together.

Earlier this year, we handed over a cheque for £24,226 to the GWCT’s Allerton Project, which researches and showcases how profitable, commercial farming can go hand in hand with a thriving natural environment.
