Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Derek Redmond became one of Great Britain’s leading 400m athletes, achieving British, European, Commonwealth, and World Championship success. Known for both his remarkable athletic achievements and his globally celebrated show of resilience at the 1992 Olympics, Derek has since become a powerful voice in performance, mindset, and personal transformation. Now with his sights set on rising through the ranks of competitive clay pigeon shooting, Schöffel Country is his choice of clothing.

“It is an absolute pleasure to become a friend of Schöffel Country – the best name in the industry. Having the pleasure of being a world champion, I have very high expectations of brands I am associatedwithand I have never felt so comfortable in acountrywearbrand while shooting; Schöffel WILL bring the best out of my performance."
Derek first burst onto the British athletics scene in 1985 when he broke the 400m British record with a time of 44.82 seconds. His subsequent achievements are many and varied but include being a part of the second-fastest 4x400m relay performance in history, alongside teammates Kriss Akabusi, John Regis, and Roger Black.
Derek’s most famous moment came in the 400m semi-final at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, where he was a podium favourite; at the 250m mark, disaster struck: a sudden hamstring tear brought him to the track in agony. Refusing to quit, Derek rose to his feet and attempted to finish the race, his father running down onto the track to support him. The pair completed the lap together as 65,000 spectators erupted into a standing ovation.
Although the injury ended his athletics career, Derek has since reinvented himself across multiple sports with extraordinary success, playing professional rugby sevens, becoming a national champion in kickboxing and motorcycle racing, and representing Great Britain over-55s in basketball.
