Your Green Legacy for Black Friday
4th December 2017 by Jamie Fisher
In 2017, Schoffel Country teamed up with Trees For Life to plant a tree for every order placed on our website from Black Friday to Cyber Monday. Thanks to you, our wonderful customers, this has resulted in 436 trees to be planted in 2018 on your behalf in the highlands of Scotland. The trees are native species grown from locally collected seed such as oak, alder, bird cherry, willow, rowan, birch, hazel, aspen and juniper. Once the trees reach seed-bearing age, natural regeneration will expand them into the forests of the future and help to restore sections of the ancient Caledonian Forest.
Last year, we also planted 397 trees thanks to our Black Friday 2016 donation. The Schoffel trees were planted during the Spring 2017 planting season in Glen Affric in the Highlands, often described as the most beautiful glen in Scotland. The land on which the trees are planted is owned by the Forestry Commission and the trees will stand until they die naturally as part of the wild forest.
Trees For Life has also undertaken a number of wildlife conservation projects, with particular focus on the reintroduction of red squirrels to the Highlands of Scotland.
